Before Russet was born, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was lucky enough to receive treatment, and the disease was pushed into remission. When Russet was a young girl, the cancer returned and was diagnosed as stage IV, and Russet experienced first hand the necessity of accessible and affordable health care. Her mother is still with us, and this gift has made Russet passionate about ensuring quality health care is available to every person in the Commonwealth.
Russet strongly believes that no Virginia family should find themselves in a position where a loved one needs treatment and can’t get it due to cost. She will fight to ensure that no person in this Commonwealth is denied access to health care, regardless of economic status, race, creed, gender, or social position.
