VDOT crews are pretreating the roads Saturday, January 4th and will be on standby on Sunday, January 5th as soon as snow begins to start treatment. Here are some tips for staying safe on the roads:
VDOT is responsible for snow removal on all state-maintained roads. While all cities and some towns maintain their roads, VDOT may support cities and towns if requested.
VDOT snow removal priorities are as follows:
Note: Because of the amount of snow and duration of the snow expected, it will take time to ensure that all affected roads are passable. VDOT is working diligently and thanks residents for their patience.
If you have questions about your street or other roads in your area, the first step is to determine who maintains those roads.
VDOT is responsible for all state-maintained roads. Typically, towns and cities are responsible for their own road maintenance but VDOT assists all the towns in SD-31 (Western Loudoun and Northern Fauquier) apart from Leesburg and Purcellville. Please note private roads are maintained by the property owner or Homeowner's Association.
For Loudoun residents, you can learn more about road safety and maintenance as well as determine who maintains your road here.
